Post Body

We were doing a road trip from Santiago to San Pedro de Atacama and stopped along the coast at Pan de Azúcar national park. All over the hillsides there are these white columns scattered in no particular pattern. They all range from about 2-4ft in height and have a chalky texture. I couldn’t find any info on what these might be, whether these are man made or natural, and what they signify. Can anyone help?

Why would the American embassy know or even care about some random rocks in the desert, unless it's something they put there or of national interest (either way they might not want to elaborate)
