Recommendations for a starter geologist hand lens of modest price and possibly easier to use?
My friend picks up rocks to look at. Lives far away, where glaciers have brought amazing things to the beach. I look at these via live video. She needs a hand lens. My B&L Hastings Triplet 10x isn't the kindest thing to start with, and they are now a bit expensive for a starter geologist.
My hand lens was given to me by my then girlfriend's father, later FIL (who recently passed), in the late 1970s. It's been a lot of places. It's actually right across the room from me, about to go on a trip. Rather nice patina. The black plastic has been cracked for years. Almost 50 years of service, and it still has the same cord for around my neck!
