hi! me and my friend were talking about this the other day and i was looking for some more perspectives! just for fun ofc
so, the question is, what country of origin would help one out the most when they play geoguessr for the first time?
for example: i'm from the netherlands. this means i can speak dutch, which helps in the netherlands, belgium, places that used to be dutch colonies like aruba curacao bonaire, and also in south africa as afrikaans is fairly understandable & it's easy to recognise dutch place names!
however, i would say this is pretty minimal. i can recognise the netherlands almost every time but its really hard to region guess, i can recognise vlaanderen as the netherlands but slightly off, and in the other places if i run into some language that might help.
but for example, being from a country that uses cyrillic, to me, seems infinitely more helpful as you can run into it in so many different places. or spanish, portuguese.. im not sure how helpful being from the USA is for example as just being from there doesnt mean you can recognise all the different states/regions just by sight, right?
please let me know your thoughts!
Either USA or Russia
