This post has been de-listed
It is no longer included in search results and normal feeds (front page, hot posts, subreddit posts, etc). It remains visible only via the author's post history.
I just had a person try to repost their ad after three days, so I thought it appropriate to make this post to address reposting culture on reddit generally and why we don't have to do that here.
1. Firstly, reposting more than once a month here is explicitly prohibited in the rules.
2. Secondly, doing so is completely superfluous anyway.
One's main reddit feed is a dubious amalgamation of whatever some mysterious and ever-changing algorithm thinks you should see. This can be problematic in many ways.
However. that doesn't affect us here. We're a small, sheltered, extra cozy microcosm of the redditsphere. At least I attempt and hope for it to be that.
It's super easy to search subreddits, so if you post here someone can easily find you in an appropriate search.
Searches will return results long after they've been posted. Years later, even!
I myself have responded to an r4r ad (elsewhere on reddit) that was over a month old that I found via a subreddit search; they responded right away and we met up in person the very next day. It does happen!
This is not Facebook or the reddit main page where the object is to post at the right time and in such a way that the maximum number of people will see and interact with your post right away. This subreddit is meant to be slow and thoughtful with an emphasis on quality over quantity.
Reposting frequently doesn't do you any good here. You can relax. Doesn't that feel better?
3. Get hip with searching.
Some things like flairs can be confusing and not everyone is in the habit of searching for multiple terms at once. Therefore I made a wiki entry on good ways to search here. I've also linked that wiki entry in the top menu and on the side bar.
I'll write some more things there specific to each reddit platform if I need to in the future; just let me know and I'll look into it. What's there already should be a good start, though. I am pathologically prolix so I even made a tl;dr for everyone.
Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help on this topic!
Happy searching and being found,
