Seeking advice; can I call myself queer or gay?
Post Body

I've been feeling quite confused with myself lately and so I've been stuck in my head a lot. Thinking about it on my own seems to have gotten me nowhere, so maybe posting online might help.

So here's the main question I have:

Can I, someone who's AFAB, presents as a female, and uses she/her pronouns call myself gay or queer as I figure out my gender identity?

I'd say I'm pansexual/panromantic (though bi is easier to explain irl as most people understand it). But it seems "wrong" to call myself non-binary when in a sense I'm okay with certain aspects of being female, or presenting as such.

I suffer from body dysmorphia at times. I'm childfree and not maternal at all. I despise my family's assigned gender roles, etc. I've thought of myself as female for so long, but I've also known that I was never "typical" as well.

Secondary question:

I don't know if I'd be a better fit in the genderqueer community or the nonbinary community. Would I be accepted in both? Ngl I don't really understand the distinction between the two.

I don't think that at this point in my life I'm feeling quite clear on what my gender is, and so it would be easier to say that I'm queer as in both gender-wise and sexually. That is more comfortable to me.

Would that be fine or would it be strange?

Thanks.
