Hiya all! We just got sent a threatening modmail from the admins, and so we're opening the sub on restricted mode to figure out how to deal with it.

Please comment whatever you think we oughta do below. (Note, however, that I am a stubborn bastard and really don't wanna open the sub up again on reddit until/unless the protest succeeds. I am, however, very open to moving to raddle or lemmy or some other alternative.)

General options (some of which can be combined) are:

• Stay private. Continues the blackout as intended but may result in admin consequences. I'm absolutely fine with going down with this ship, but would like to get an alternative set up somewhere before committing to it.
• Stay restricted. Continues the protest, but ads can be displayed, meaning the protest is less effective.
• Various other forms of malicious compliance (pics of John Oliver, pics of fluids, sky's the limit here). Very similar to staying restricted in that it does continue the protest but also gives reddit ad revenue.
• Mark the sub NSFW. Denies reddit ad revenue, but the admins don't like it and will presumably be searching for an excuse to un-mark the sub as NSFW. This means that in order for this to work we'd have to come up with some plausible NSFW thing for y'all to do.
• Go elsewhere. Do one of the above while also making an alternative sub on lemmy or raddle or something.
