I am in the market to buy a new TV. Looking for 53-60", preferably LED for better contrast, 120 or 240Hz (not sure if I really need 240), and non-3D (waste of money IMO).

Can you provide any help narrowing my search? Any info you have regarding which brands truly stand out? Anything at all really?

I do know that Sony's seem to have a sub-par picture in the stores, Samsung seems to stand above the rest, but I have also been looking at a Sharp (Aquos with Quattro).

There is a lot more to this field I know, but I am trying to keep it fairly short as I am not very well educated in it, so as to not make too many mistakes.
