I just urgent rescue missed three severely neglected African fat tails that were all emaciated, dehydrated, covered in stuck shed, zero humidity in tank, all 3 males living together in a 10 gallon etc etc. I’ve rescued much worse and at first I thought everything was going to be an obvious straight forward road to recovery but when I got home and separated the three and started doing full body examinations, my stomach dropped when I realized his entire foot is just dangling. I’m obviously familiar with neglected geckos and missing toe issues but his entire FOOT is falling off.
I don’t know exactly what my question is but I suppose any advice/experience would be helpful. Is he in pain? I currently have him moved to a smaller tank, nice big bowl of water (which he’s been soaking in since he noticed it), he’s laying on paper towel for now, soft plants for hideaway. What else can I do for him today?
Note: HE IS BEING SEEN BY MY EXOTIC VET IN THE MORNING and will have to be amputated, if it’s even still on by then. I don’t know if the pictures show how BARELY on it still is. I am just sitting here sick and sad with worry and need advice for today/what to expect going forward.
