Leopard geckos and sand

I've had this guy for 5 years. He stays in his dry hide most of the day. I'd like to stimulate him by emulating his natural Habitat.
I use paper towels to line the terrarium, always will. However, I'm thinking of creating a hide where he can chill. Is repti-sand safe? What brand do you recommend?
