Help on increasing damage output?

Maybe it's confirmation bias, but I find a lot of the times 4 things happen in a game; I steamroll my opponent, I force a tie, I tie because we're shooting water pistols at each other, or I barely eke out a win. Okay five; I lose because I can spend a game winning pushes 75% of the time and not being able to finish the opponent off, and either tie, barely win, or lose in the last 30 secs or OT. I just feel like I win these early game pushes and my units don't do enough damage to opponent towers? Like is there an increase in damage over time? This can't be like a MOBA, can it? It's not like there are skills to level within the matches themselves...

Anyway my team is;

Level 9 Ink

Level 2 HoD (mainly use this to eke out the wins late game)

Level 11 Locust Drone

Level 9 Snubs

Level 11 Longshot Sniper

Level 11 Shepherds

Level 10 Savage Grenadier

Literally don't know what to use last, sometimes it's a decent turret, sometimes it's a level 5 Cole.

I am in the bottom of Silver right now. I think in general I've been steadily climbing, but it just feels like it's up to chance sometimes.

I don't have Old Man Marcus btw.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
