Horror stories about inviting guys over ?

So I live in an apartment complex. It’s an open complex and anyone can enter our quad. I was thinking about hosting someone to come over but I am nervous to invite a stranger over. He could stalk me, make a scene, I’m thinking worst case scenario lol.
Do you guys have any horror stories or advice ? Have you had a stranger over? I assume it usually goes well?
