Hey I (20m) and my boyfriend (21m) have been in a relationship for just under a year now and it’s been open the entire time. My boyfriend constantly does this thing where he gets excited and throws caution and thought to the wind and just acts. Now many times this has a negative impact on me because I’m tied to him and everything he’s throwing is hitting me in the face. For example he told his friends that I barely knew we were in an open relationship with asking me if I was ok with it first, then he flirted with their roommate in their room and invited him back to ours as I was sitting next to him (where was I going to go I had no desire to sleep with him), sent my nudes to someone he planned on hooking up with because they wanted to “see how he stroked it” also without my permission, refused to wear condoms with his hookups giving up the option to go raw with me, and open refused to tell a long time sexual partner that he had a boyfriend. He says that he gets excited and I’m always stifling his fun, but I just want to be safe an ethical. Like when he ask me to get off my phone, or to give someone a chance who I really don’t like or connect with, or to practice an instrument I gave up on years ago I’m supposed to stifle my happiness so that he feels better. But I ask him to wear a condom, use discernment in who he hooks up with in our lives, and to wear a condom and all of a sudden I’m mister kill joy. Am I bad at being open or is he bad at being a boyfriend? Is this a product of us being overly emotional 20 year olds?
