Update: Three different high quality lossless player apps = no good. VLC = perfect.
The original recordings give problems on some players that do other newer recordings just fine. Not sure what it is about them that was causing that problem, but once I downloaded VLC the FLAC recordings work perfectly. Thank you everyone for your help.
Archive: I downloaded the FLAC tapes and noticed that I can hear the tones in both ears. When the narrator says there will be a tone in the right ear I can remove either left or right earphone and still hear it. I've tested my headphones and they work fine on L/R test audio. Are the MP3 versions better? Do I need different downloads of the FLAC?
CLARIFICATION: This happens with 2 different sets of headphones on both computer and cell phone and in multiple players. Let me see if I can better explain.
These audios work perfect for left right balance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TWJaFD6R2s https://www.audible.com/pd/The-Gateway-Experience-The-Way-of-Hemi-Sync-Podcast/B0B829DCW9
These do not: https://www.audible.com/pd/Wave-1-Discovery-Orientation-The-Gateway-Experience-Hemi-Sync-Podcast https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqlaRHyZJqU&t=124s FLACs downloaded from 3 sources now.
In the first video, when the audio is in the right ear the left is silent. Test = good. This means player (youtube and audible) and headphones are fine. In the second audio, the "vibrato" described goes away if I take out one ear and I only hear steady tone. Meaning that the effect works correctly, I only hear vibrato/wavering if both ears are in. Success.
In the second group, however, when the narrator says "you should hear my voice only in my right ear" if I take the right ear out I still hear him in the left but at 40-50% strength. When the "vibrato" is playing from two different tones if I take out one ear I still hear vibrato instead of a steady tone. This means the vibrator is not being created by hemi-sync but by sound bleeding from one earpiece to the other.
TLDR: Player works, headphones work, Wave 1 Orientation does not seem to work correctly through Audible, Youtube, and FLAC downloads.
