Good CoC orgs to join for a CS major who's only in 1301?

I know that most people say that orgs are also open to beginners, but I'm not entirely sure what goes on at them, cause I would feel awkward just sitting there while everyone else was whipping up these complex projects that I can't contribute to, so I guess that's another question, is what they actually do in a typical meeting. I suck at building up the courage to talk to strangers so I've barely made any friends and figure I need to find some way to meet people or I'll be alone for the next 4 years
