How should I make friends in Grad School?

I have been at Tech for 2 semesters now and I don’t seem to be able to make friends in classes. Most of my time is spent in my lab but I don’t think I have been able to make deeper connections with my lab mates even though I get along with quite well. Outside of it, I attend a lot of events but never seem to make friends for longer than the duration of the event. Any ideas on how to improve on that front?
