I’ve got microscopic colitis, also known and lymphocytic colitis. The symptoms are similar to Crohn’s Disease, but the inflammation isn’t as bad and it doesn’t usually lead to having to remove portions of the colon (not, thankfully, does it increase risk for colon cancer, as the more common ulcerative colitis does).
My question is whether having this condition could make gastric sleeve surgery a bad idea? I’ve ruled out gastric bypass because I may one day need all the colon I can get. I know gastric sleeve doesn’t bypass any of the digestive system, but still I worry whether this might be a contraindication for the surgery.
