Dealing with excess soil when planting shrubs
Post Body

So I'm planting shrubs for the first time. Needless to say, between the soil from the containers and the additional compost, I can't get all the original soil back into the hole.

Combine this with having the lawn tested recently, with "need more organic matter" as one of the results. There is a section of the lawn that's obviously sandy and sparse. Would it make sense to spread any of the excess soil around the lawn? Or too much risk of bad things happening?

Otherwise I'm stuck dumping it in the wild area behind the lawn. While legally it's not wetlands, I sorta hate filling in the slope. Or any other ideas? Thanks!
