Growing plants in perlite only

When u grow plants in perlite only as medium do you put the new plant in the perlite with all the soil attached to it still or do u wash it off and then put it in the perlite?
I have several Alocasia that I want to transfer in pure perlite (big terrarium for them) They are all in soil medium in their pots how I got them from the store. Should I wash the soil off or leave it on the plant when I put them in the pure perlite?
