Looking for a racing game similar to Wave Race

See title. This is a bit of a longshot as I haven't been successful in finding anything, and Wave Race 64 is a game...oh, generations old, but I'm looking to play something more modern that might at least scratch a similar itch on PC, preferably Steam. The closest I've come is finding a title called 'Kandagawa Jet Girls', but I see a lot of complaints about it being too easy.

Any possible recommendations at all would be appreciated! Or if anyone can vouch for Kandagawa Jet Girls at least being a fun possibility, if not challenging. Thanks!
