Maybe an easy tactics game?

I want to get into tactics games and actually get decent at them, but when I try one even on the easiest difficulties I wind up struggling by mid game, if I even make it that far. I played FFTA2 back in the day and beat that, but that really doesn't compare to proper games like XCOM or Phoenix Point. I'm looking for a class-based tactics game if possible, but something even an idiot can wrap their head around and enjoy.
