Spoiled for choice, I keep starting games for a few hours then giving up... what should I focus on? Disparate games from disparate eras all the way back to 1993.
Post Body

Just 100%'d Super Mario Wonder and...the games I've been trying to get into:

  • Baldur's Gate 3 (PC)
  • Cyberpunk 2077 (PC)
  • Shining Force 2 (Genesis - emulated on a handheld probably)
  • Alundra (PSX - emulated on a handheld probably)
  • Spider-man 2 (PS5)

I've played each of them for a few hours and just can't get into them.

I loved Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 but 3 seems to add so many new systems I'm having a little trouble figuring out what I can do / how to min-max even if I'm playing well or poorly...

Cyberpunk 2077 was going pretty well until I got to a very long scene where I have to rewind and fast forward through time and like sniff out clues. I found it very boring and annoying. I stopped playing but it might not even be a big part of the game for all I know.

Shining Force 2 I have been wanting to play since I heard it was one of the best Genesis games. It's probably going to require a guide because the thought of missing characters is annoying to me. Playing the game with gamefaqs open is almost equally annoying so again I'm having a hard time getting into it. This game would probably be played on a miyoo mini , or a mister fpga.

Alundra this is a top down adventure rpg kinda like link to the past. I love all the 2d zelda games so I was excited to play this one but again... I am stuck in the first town. I assume I have to talk to this person or that person in this order or that order when all I really want to do is stomp some dungeons. This game would probably be played on a miyoo mini , or a mister fpga.

Spider-man 2 I loved Spider-Man and Miles Morales but it feels a bit like more of the same. Swing somewhere smash some weak enemies swing somewhere else... I 100%'d the other 2 games within the last 2 years and I know this one is probably better than either of the other 2 but I just can't get into it. The controls changing when switching spider-mans are also annoying AF.

Honorable mentions that I hope to play some day: Shining in the Darkness, Octopath Traveler 1 and 2, Shining Force 1 and CD, Snatcher for Sega CD, Undertale, Half-Life Alyx (kinda makes me sick tho), Paper Mario (N64 on Mister FPGA), Majora's Mask, God of War (PS5), Bowser's Fury section of Super Mario 3d world, Hades, Persona 4/5, Castlevania 3 (NES on miyoo mini ), Breath of Fire III and IV for PSX, Dragon Quest Monsters for Switch.
