First of all, the fact that it's not called 'appreciation post' in the title, doesn't means it isn't, I just wanted to differentiate it from my thoughts about Heavy Rain. So, let's get started. Yesterday, I finished the game. And it was awesome. The characters were great, the Aiden mechanics were especially fun, his and Jodie's dynamic was probably the best thing about the game, and I really liked the story as a whole, not as much as the one from Heavy Rain, but I'm going to try and avoid comparisons. The story, at least for me, was really good especially in the emotional side of things, which is the main focus, and I think the fact that you only control one character (well, thecnically two, but you get my point) helps you connect better with her, especially since you control Jodie through all of her life. And this is leads me to my second point, replayability. True, the game is more limited as far as choices go, because there's only one character, but even then, the stats at the end of every chapter (mind you, that was a detail I really liked) showed me that there was a fair amount of different paths to make up for it, and besides, the fact that you can play the story in different orders really helps for replayability, as well as the collectibles thing, though I wasn't too fond of conecting it to the extras. I'm definitely going to be replaying it in chronological order once I finish Detroit. Luckily, I ended up getting used to the pacing after a while, and in fact, I sort of liked it by the end of the game, because it showed how much of a caos Jodie's mind is in the epilogue if you choose the Life ending. And this leads me to my final point, the ending. I have to admit, I teared up a bit, something I can't say for many other games. I ended up choosing to stay with Ryan, even if I wasn't fond of him for most of the game, but at least the final few chapters redeemed him a bit. And I have to admit, I'm glad I choose that ending over the one with Zoey, because it meant Aiden got reunited with Jodie (according to the wiki, Aiden doesn't reappears in the Zoey ending). The one thing I didn't liked, though, was the apocalipse tease. Even if it's a set up for a sequel, I still find it unnecessary, and it kinda screws with whatever happy ending you got. But besides that, I really liked the ending, and the game as a whole. True, it's not the best from Quantic Dream, but at least for me, it's very, very far from being a bad game, and it lived up to my expectations. And for me, it wasn't just one quarter or even half as good as Heavy Rain, it was more than that. So I'm going to end by just saying that if you like these types of games, you should definitely give this one a chance. I can't guarantee you'll like it, but at least to me, it certainly didn't dissapoint.
