I really like the dynasty warriors series of games and people always are like wtf those games suck why do you like them. Well the reason I like them is because there are not a lot of other games like them so I am forced to deal with all the shortcomings in order to have that type of experience.

Since the games do tend to suck a lot, I am in search of other games in this genre. The genre is called "crowd brawler" specifically.

I know there is another sub specifically for finding games but I didnt think this belonged in r/tipofmyjoystick and I cant think of the subs.

So my criteria is -play as a character or "hero" in third person -very large scale map environments -equally large battles going on with hundreds of troops and other generals leading -ability to upgrade your playable hero via weapons or items or upgrading troops and troop types. -preferably jack and slash style fighting

Other examples of games would be the samurai warriors series or more specifically Kessen, if anyone remembers that one.
