Context, Quake I/Quake II remaster by Nightdive in conjunction with id and Machinegames was excellent and a throwback to nostalgia. Thought/odds on Valve kicking Half-Life into a remaster for not just pc but Xbox, PS, Switch, etc.? Even if they handed it off to a team like Nightdive to handle the majority of the work. I have zero hopes for a HL3 at this point, I think valves priorities are steam, and steamdeck which makes sense from a business aspect. Distribution platform and hardware (even if they aren't making much profit from hardware) keeps them sustainable for awhile and game development is hitting upwards of 300 million. But I think there's enough interest from people to revisit the games continuously and would be great uo do that on non pc systems.
