It was somewhere in the years of '98 and '99; Nintendo's website was doing that summer camp stuff and alongside that, there was a Yoshi digital pet that you could take care of and interact with through your web browser. Of course, this was during the age of Digimon and Giga Pets. I'm not sure when the digital pet was removed from the website, but it made me wish we had a proper one either in physical form (like the normal digital pets sold in stores) or as a mini game/activity in a Mario game (like Mario party or Smash Brothers, etc). I vaguely remember a Sonic game from the early 2000s that had a side activity of taking care of a digital, but I could be wrong about that.
