Cant play battlefront 2 on steam anymore

i put over 40 hours into battlefront 2 on steam after a friend bought it as a christmas gift for me and then they gave it away on epic and i nabbed it to have the extra copy now i can only play it if i launch it through epic/origin launcher and it asks for the game code on epic to redeem the unknown game whenever i launch it on steam ive looked for like 2 hours and couldnt find a single mention of anyone else having this issue
