I love RPGs or strategy games especially if there are turn based elements and/or base building/management systems. Here's the thing though, I like making my character OP. In TW3, I loved making Geralt stupid strong. I would grind out sidequests and make an OP build so I could just crush everything. That's fun for me. In XCOM, I saved a lot and abused the overpowered sniper builds. I had a blast. I hated XCOM 2 because they added random ambushes from nowhere and made me feel like I wasn't allowed to get past the hump. I grew up with RPGs, like Shadow Hearts and Nocturne, that made you go grind out levels if you got spanked by a boss and then you went back and wrecked them.
What games made you feel powerful and aren't too difficult? If they are difficult, then do they provide a way to get over the difficulty hump other than pure mechanical skill (i.e. level up more, make better armor/weapons. etc.)? Also, I prefer newer games with decent visual appeal.
