Just to clarify I have only watched the show, not read the books. (I know I'm sorry!)
Tywin is obviously one of the most intelligent characters in the show but he often lacks 'emotional inteligence' as I have seen others mention. Is this the reason he never suspects Jaime and Cercei and does not realise his Cupbearer is Arya Stark?
Or does he realise and in the case of his children choose not to notice out of pride for his family name? It seems strange that such an intelligent and ruthless character lacks an awareness to his immediate surroundings. I suppose thats what killed him in the end?
If theres any more light shed on this in the books please let me know!
