He puts heroics over logic way too often. He's basically lost 2 major battles at this point, The Battle of The Bastards, and now the Battle for Winterfell. He doesn't think with his head, and has to get bailed out too many times for his dump decisions.

As honorable as he is I just can't see him doing very well ruling the Seven Kingdom, and it's possible he knows it too. He may very likely just continue to stand by Dany.

I'm honestly not really sure what his purpose is at this point, other than just having a stronger claim to the throne.
