Quick Question about battle strategy in "The Long Night"

Currently watching it and it just occurred to me: why haven't Bran and Danaerys linked up as soon as they met at Winterfell? He is basically omniscient, and if he wants, could be omnipresent (via murder of crows). He could have controlled the crows while Dany and Jon followed them on their respective dragons. Even if the Night King survived the dragon battle, Jon could finish him with Longclaw, made of Valyrian steel.

Basically, there was no strategy here at Winterfell. Their only prerogative is simply to stay alive while the Night King is hunted and killed. So much unnecessary loss of life.
