Looking for a mechanic idea for my game.

I am making a game about depression, mental health, gender identity, and how life is good. I would like an idea for a mechanic.
I am using the great Unpacking as inspiration, with the calm and relaxing game play. I want my game to be calm and relaxing too. I also want to make it pixel art as well.
I have some ideas, but I don't know if it really fits with the game's main idea. Possibly a search and find game where you look for items in rooms and click on them?
Anyone have any other ideas?
