I just posted this to gamedev.net, but I wanted to give r/gamedev a shot at it as well. Below is the template from gamedev.net, with some additional formatting to look reasonable on reddit.
Check out the videos if you want to see what the game looks like.
EDIT: Downvoted to zero? I thought job postings by indie developers were considered kosher here? Any haters want to explain the hate?
Please, serious interest only; if you don't have a lot of time to spend on this in the next month or two, then please don't reply, or it will end in tears.
Project name:
Hamster: Attack!
Brief description:
A physics-based puzzle game in the same genre as Angry Birds. Our goal is to create more of a puzzle game, though, with a very different visual aesthetic and a fun set of characters.
Target aim:
"Fremium" product on iPhone and Android. Free version will be ad-supported; premium version will have more levels. Code is mostly cross-platform, so we may also release on Windows/Mac/Linux.
Compensation:
A fixed percentage of gross proceeds if you can commit to a minimum of thirty completed and polished levels. Otherwise a fixed fee per approved level we use. The game has been entirely self-funded (by Tim Mensch), and so we'd prefer splitting proceeds over digging deeper into Tim's savings.
Technology:
iPhone/Android initially. Based on a custom cross-platform SDK. Work to be done on a Windows-based system using provided and free-to-download tools.
Talent needed:
An excellent level designer. We have two awesome designers, but I'm hoping to find one more to add to the creative mix and to help us get a level pack out soon after we launch.
Team structure:
- Tim Mensch : Founder/Owner, Lead Programmer
- Deborah Mensch : Audio Productions, CTO
- Jonathan Hillman : Music, SFX
- Kristina Tomalesky : Producer
- Jesse Comb : Level Designer
- Dave Shelly: Level Designer
Website:
Contacts:
Previous Work by Team:
Tim Mensch :
- Developed the casual game engine Playground SDK for PlayFirst, which has been used in 100 games.
- Lead on about a dozen games, including Game Boy Advance Tetris Worlds and Chessmaster Challenge.
- Partial list of game credits here: http://www.mobygames...eloperId,13230/ Contributer to several open-source projects, including Doxygen and LuaJIT.
Kristina Tomalesky:
- Producer on Champions Online and Star Trek Online; previously a producer at PlayFirst.
Dave Shelly:
- Partial list of credits here: http://www.mobygames...veloperId,9331/
Additional Info:
The team is in Colorado and California, but we don't care where you are as long as you can produce awesome levels and have good Internet access. We meet on Skype a few times a week to update each other on progress, so ability to speak English fluently would be a plus.
We are pretty close to release on Hamster, but we want to find additional level designers to help us with our first level pack. Level design is done on a Windows build of the game using an in-game editor, so it's easy to make and test new levels immediately, no devices or dev-kits required.
Please let us know if you've done any design for a physics-based puzzle game already, or whatever other relevant experience you might have.
