r/indiegames had had enough and announced not to allow more developer self promotion posts under guise of asking feedback. Will other subs like r/IndieDev or r/PixelArt that face the same issue follow suit ?

That sounds good.
Also, has anyone else noticed that some games that are pretty obviously made by big studios get passed off as indie games? I guess when the deadline is close and the game is still really buggy, they post here and talk about their small team of 12 devs (and don't mention the 200 contractors)
