Shadow of the Colossus bosses are very fun and the bosses are gigantic as well. They are more of puzzles and challenges to the platforming. In other words, as you hunt for the colossus, you have to climb and jump precisely as you would do in any platformer. Those sequences act like a test, and then the real deal happens when the colossus appears. All that platforming you did before must be applied properly on the bosses.
Ive played lots of other boss fight that are gigantic (in terms of physical size of the opponent). 2 of the bosses in Axiom Verge are huge like Shadow of the colossus, but I noticed that they shoot in areas where you wouldn't be at all. So i have less obstacles to worry about as I mash the fire button to win. Many other games I played, the human sized bosses are more fun than the giant sized ones in the same game. DMC3 had the gigapede which flew by just to get hit, but Vergil fights were more of a challenge and a dance between two players. Vergil isn't giant but he is a human sized boss. Bigger doesn't always mean better.
So what was the best giant sized boss you ever fought that felt fun or well designed?
