Explosion in Galway City
Post Body

Did anybody hear/see or could possibly explain the explosion sound in the city last night. It happened around between 1 and 1.30 am on Sunday night going into Monday morning (2nd - 3rd of May).

I heard it from bridge street area but it sounded like it happened up towards the cathedral/nuns Island/Bish school judging by all the seagulls scattering from that area straight afterwards.

I initially thought it might be a bad car crash but it sounded similar to a sonic boom from an airplane or an electrical explosion like a transformer shorting out for example.

I saw no bright flash or any smoke, fire or visual indicator of anything that would have made the sound and apart from a couple of other neighbours looking out windows and a few posts on twitter there's been no other reaction or explanation for what might have happened.

If anybody heard or saw anything I'd love to hear about. Head is melted trying to find out more about it all day 😂
