Family friendly options

Howdy guys, Total tourist here, but as dumb as it sounds, want to do some stuff the locals do, where they do it. Yeah, we have been to the pier, the rainforest cafe, moody Gardens etc.... Not really the bar hopping type, with the kids in tow this time.... So, what are some family friendly things to do, where the locals go. Including places to eat that are off the path, but still have good food.
Here from College Station, so we come a couple of times a year.
