Is Galveston a good city for young, single, professional women?
Post Body

I (28F) plan on moving to the Houston area once Iā€™m 30. I keep going back and forth between Houston proper and Galveston, and canā€™t seem to make up my mind.

One thing that concerns me a bit (and matters to me perhaps the most) is the median age of Galvestonā€™s population, which is apparently 39.9 years. I know thatā€™s not much older than I will be once I actually move, but itā€™s significantly older than Houston and anywhere Iā€™ve ever lived. I just donā€™t want to move there only to find out that everyone there is already coupled up and settled in their lives. I definitely want my new city to have a lively dating scene.

Any opinions on the dating scene in Galveston and/or Houston?

Comments

The dating scene is terrible from my experience. Iā€™m 31/m from the island. I had to to a distant relationship in Houston for a few years to finally settle down and build a family with. Too many people spend there life in the bars every single night. Most people work in the industry and get off late and are already downtown and you have ā€œfriendsā€ or ā€œco-workersā€ who pressure you to join them for ā€œ1 drinkā€ itā€™s always someoneā€™s ā€œbirthdayā€ or ā€œlast day in Galvestonā€. Donā€™t get me wrong I had my fun but itā€™s the same people. Same thing. Every night.
