Does anyone else kinda hate it when the show tries to be fun?

I don't know if this is the same for everybody else, but whenever the show tries to be fun it usually falls flat on its face to me. To be fair I have a positive bias towards the darker episodes like world enough and time, but at the same time I like mummy on the orient express. I guess with mummy I don't feel like it's trying so hard to be fun and instead it just is fun. Anyways that's enough of my rambling, and I don't know how controversial of an opinion this is going to be, but I'd just wanted to share my thoughts on this subject.
