Watching The Gunfighters at the moment. While I find it adorable that English actors who speak RP are trying (and miserably failing) at being generic American hick-drawl, I have realized that the 11th Doctor episode A Town Called Mercy is a retelling of this 1st Doctor story.

Complete with mistaken identity around the word "Doctor." Complete with people out to kill someone that goes by that name. Complete with angry mob scene.

Wonder what other direct parallels there will be before I finish this.

I'd say so far A Town Called Mercy is a far better telling of this sort of story. Also, wow the stories are true. It is a Doctor Who musical!
