So last week on Saturday I thought I had Covid. From 9am until 5pm I had a fever, chills, full body aches, sever abdominal pain, and I hadn’t pooped in like a week. I took a Covid test.
Sunday the pain lessoned but was still at a seven.
By the time I got my negative results on Monday afternoon I was back to the same symptoms from Saturday. I drove myself to an urgent care. They sent me to the ER. After I was tested for Covid (again negative), I was given an ultrasound. It was crazy painful.
The dr came and in less than 30 seconds told me I had gallstones, and I was being sent home.
The nurse refused to tell me how many or size, and told me instead to go see a normal dr and then they’d refer me to a specialist, who’d be able to refer me to a surgeon. I asked what the alternative to surgery is, and she told me to change my diet. No fried food, no dairy, and only lean meat.
As a background I have a rare genetic disorder that makes any surgery extremely risky. I had to visit five different surgeons, pay in full in advance, and sign a liability waiver in case I died just to have my wisdom teeth removed. My dad died at 38 from complications of this same disorder days after he’d had his gallbladder removed.
I’m 28, 5.3, and last Monday I was 245pounds. I’ve been having a protein shake in the morning (6 grams fat), a sandwich with fruits and veggies for lunch (6 grams fat), and a grilled chicken sandwich (4 grams fat) with fruit for dinner. After 7 days I’m at 234 pounds. Two pounds a day seems excessive, is this normal?!? I’m not starving I’m full, and my calories are still above the minimum I think. I have had zero pain, with one mild set of cramps when I tried to drink low fat milk.
My intention is not to lose weight, that’s a bonus. I don’t want to have a surgery if not 100% required. So I’m trying to find a way to not develop any more gallstones and manage the ones I have. I’m sticking to my new diet.
My problem is my place doesn’t have a kitchen. which was fine when I was eating out anyway, but now I’m definitely looking to move. In the meantime My question is what can I eat at fast food places? I’m allergic to fish/shellfish. So far I’ve been eating Chick-fil-As grilled chicken sandwich and fruit. After a week I definitely want something else lol
Thank y’all for any advice, sorry if I overstated I’m autistic and I didn’t know how much background to give.
