So I got my Flip 5 about 6 months ago . Traded in a note 5 and got a crazy trade in value for it. I also own a S21 Ultra which has been a great reliable phone. But I love the flip for it's small form when folded. Plus it's just a cool device.
My hesitation is that damn main screen. After reading of the issues of the screen going bad, screen protectors seperating, etc, I started thinking I made a bad decision. I put the flip back in the box and went back to my S21 as my every day carry. I work in the machining industry. I'm afraid that the flip's screen isn't gonna stand up to everyday usage. My fingers are not soft. They're ROUGH and I'm afraid the screen will become damaged ( scratched to s*** ) just from swiping continually. If I have dust in my pocket, will it get between the fold and damage the screen? I'm not as concerned about the hinge as I'm very careful with my devices and I do have a case with hinge protection.
There's no Samsung authorized service center near me. So getting the screen protector replaced if (when) it starts to go bad is gonna be a real hassle. I've installed probably 50 protectors on different phones, so I'm not new to it. I'm just concerned about doing it on THIS phone. I'm guessing a flexible TPU one would require liquid to install. How do I keep that liquid from entering the phone? And what keeps the new one from coming up at the fold? ( Insert request for replacement recommendations here )
I do break out the flip occasionally on days that I'm not working. Especially if I'm going out with friends. It's nice to carry. Fun to use. And gets a lot of attention. But I'd love to have the confidence to carry it every day. I feel like it's such a waste to have this cool phone just sitting in a drawer. Please convince me that it'll be fine to always have it on me.
Thank you gang.
