Kitkat Broke YouTube in-app Uploads?

After I take a video, I can open the Gallery, find the video, and upload it to YT just fine. However, if I open the YT app and go to Uploads, there's an icon near the upper-right that is an up arrow.

Before upgrading to Kitkat, I'd press that button and be able to select videos from Gallery.

However, now when I click it, I get two menu options: Recent and Downloads. My Recent is empty and Downloads is crap I downloaded with my browser (I guess). Like PDF files and stuff.

Did Google really break their own YouTube app with the Kitkat update? How do I, from inside the YT app, upload a video that I recorded with my phone's camera?!
