Note 10+ won't picture-in-picture for Vudu app, but works for everything else ... how to fix?

My Note 10 is still going strong 3 years in, but refuses to picture-in-picture for the Vudu movie app.
Settings say that PiP is active for Vudu, but no matter what I've done, the app minimizes instead of going into PiP.
Every other movie app works flawlessly.
Any help and ideas appreciated!
