Hello my fellow Redditors. I'm wondering how Gabapentin chemically differs from Benzodiazepines. Would taking 900 mg of Gabapentin daily lower your tolerance to Benzos given that it also has some affinity to the GABAergic pathways that Benzos do? I've read that Gabapentin turns amino acids in your body into natural GABA or something like that, while Benzos directly bind to the GABA receptors in the brain? Can somebody clarify this for me? I take Benzos from time to time while on Gabapentin and I definitely noticed that they potentiate each other, but I'm wondering if there came a time that I tapered off of Gabapetin, but continued to use benzos, would they be less effective. Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated :)
