The researcher had named it the Fu54-virus, a way to explore the intricacy of gender differenciation in various species. It had been said to have the potential for at least two Nobel prizes which encouraged the lab staff to keep it a secret.

The problems began when a master student hired as a lab assistant thought that they could use the virus to obtain the recognition that they thought they deserved. They injected themselves with a strain of the virus outside of work hours certain that the results would mark history. In a way they did begining the events known as the Hillingham futapocalypse.
