Similar to the rise of the first Islamic caliphate in the Middle Ages, the first American caliphate was immediately militarily successful and took over vast swathes of the former city of Phoenix. It had been about a hundred years after the nuclear warheads had took off, turning pretty much the entire world into a barren nuclear wasteland. For humans, at least. Still, like always, life found a way and continued, with plant and animal life recovering pretty quickly and humanity surviving, albeit in smaller numbers. Back to the Stone Age with power, guns, and technology rendered obsolete due to inability to manufacture or maintain it, humanity found itself doing what it did best: fighting for land.

Enter the Caliphate and it’s new Caliph, Kyanna Flynn. The head of a brand new version of Islam putting her sex at the top, as opposed to the traditional male dominated, her religion of Ashara is a strange mix of Shia Islam and Norse paganism that serves her desires for empire building and war. The Umaya Caliphate, named after the historical Umayyad, has expanded to one of the biggest governments in the city but she wants more. With the knowledge of history, in ruling, religion, and tactics, on her side, she is very hard to stop…and always looking for new conquests.

And that includes people to help secure her bloodline.
