Prototype full sized replacement stanchion for the museum I work at.
Post Body

Many of the current stanchions are on their last legs, and don't easily support mechanical attachment to the floors. While stanchions have proven to be a very effective means to reduce incidents with objects, they can become their own problem when they get knocked over.

This prototype maintains the historical appearance of the current stanchions, but should be much easier to fix to the floor, and are much cheaper than trying to create new cast brass ones like the originals.

I modeled the base and head in Sketchup, and printed them in inlandfilament white PETG. I designed the base to accept a 3/4" square of poplar, for that attachment to the floor.

The stem is 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" square aluminum tube.

I used rustoleum autobody filler primer and dark walnut spray, with a top coat of varathane clear satin.
