Recently I have literally re-discovered the pleasure for photography thanks to my old xe2 paired with a Voigtlander Ultron 27mm (so similar to an old Konica 38mm I used many years ago!), and I am considering to update the camera body to an e4 or t50.
I visited a Fuji flagship shop, and I was surprised by the terrible building quality of the newer camera bodies: the T30 II and the T50, both in silver, felt like plastic and were so ruined; the T5, which I tried extensively thanks to a friend, is exactly the same, not comparable to my T1 I still use for product photography and portraits with various f2 lenses, and also the T3 I previously owned (for reference, the bodies I own are all black, in case the materials are different).
My old little camera is batted, but still in solid metal, and in spite of 10 years of age doesn't lose pieces.
The X100V and VI are considerably better, but not in my bucket list.
I would upgrade mainly to have a camera body that is fully compatible with my Voigtlander lens (from e3/pro3/T3 up), since I want to buy more lenses of this kind, and also to have a more recent sensor; the IBIS would be a nice plus, adding some creative options and allowing to zone-focusing more efficiently, but not completely necessary (a 350gr. camera body is a great freedom).
Also, the MF switch of my e2 is broken, and needs to be replaced (the camera is always on AF, loosing some automatism when using MF lenses).
But ...the above mentioned camera bodies don't look attractive for the money; there is the option to buy an e4 while waiting for a new e5 or hybrid e/pro series in 2025 (rumors, who knows).
Any thoughts on these issues? Are the e4 black or T30II black the same mess in terms of building quality?
I have even considered to switch to a Leica M8 (a suicidal move) - just to say that I am open to any solution.
Many thanks to all of you!
