How to eloquently avoid food conversations?

Post Body

Background: I’m autistic so talkings hard for me anyway, and part of the autism is Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder and I’ve also struggled with ana.

I have a very limited diet and I’ve been bullied because people realize that I only eat like 5 different foods, so I hate even discussing it because sooner or later someone will realize that I only eat 5 foods and will make fun of me for it or question me about it to the point where I stop eating/eat very little for periods of time. But for some reason people always ask what I’m eating as a small talk kinda thing? And I really don’t feel comfortable talking about food, but I don’t want to be rude and shoot them down over an innocent question, or go into the whole thing about the eating disorders with someone I just met so I kinda just…change the subject or shut down not respond at all.

Does anyone else struggle with this or know how to get out of those conversations? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!
