Thought experiment about banning cars
Post Body

Imagine that several companies launched a robot-cook, quite expensive but looking nice, smart, able to buy food, create recipes, do the cooking for you, according to your tastes etc. Instant success : millions of units sold, practically every household owns one. Spares you a lot of time. At last, freedom for mankind !

Caveat : on the first year, 30,000 to 50,000 people in the US and Europe die in accidents related to this robot cook, including thousands of children. Manufacturers insist that children should not be left alone close to the robot, and that people should be paying attention while these robots wander at high speed around town to the grocery.

What do you think would happen ? Nationwide ban, or not ?
